Customer Success Stories: Killum Calls & Guided Duck Hunts Helps You Make Your Own!

Killum Guided Duck Hunts

Our Operation

We offer guided Waterfowl hunts out of several locations in the Outer Banks region to include Avon, Buxton, and Middletown, North Carolina. All of our hunts are led by seasoned guides, who are U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captains. Safety, and a successful  hunt are what's most important to us. Our guides make every effort to ensure that each hunt is one that you will remember!

Avon & Buxton, NC

At these locations, hunts consist of a 3-man hunt in a staked blind approximately three and a half miles out in the Pamlico Sound, in a natural flyway. These hunts are typically a half-day hunt and the targeted species are Redheads, Buffleheads, Bluebills, as well as seaducks, Scoters and Brant Geese. These hunts are $250 per hunter, per half-day hunt. All day hunts are available for $350. Please contact us directly for booking information or with any questions!

Middletown, NC

At our Middletown locations, we offer guided hunts from a floating blind, boat, or pontoon boat. Along with the typical duck species, we also offer guided Tundra Swan hunts for those who have drawn a tag, as well as Snow Goose hunts. We are able to accommodate  large or small groups and also offer layout boat hunts on the Pamlico Sound. Rates for duck hunts are $250 per half-day hunt, per hunter. Swan and Snow Goose hunts are $200 per half-day hunt, per hunter. All day hunts are available for $350. Please contact us directly for booking information or with any questions!

Curtain Blind Hunts

Curtain Blind Hunts With Killum Duck Guides

What Makes It Special?

Curtain Blinds have been around North Carolina for over a century. Our curtain blinds were built in 1920 and have been restored to offer a duck hunting experience like nothing you've ever seen. We are fortunate enough to hunt on the Avon Reef,  which is the only place in the U.S. where curtain blinds are still legal to hunt out of. One of our curtain blinds is in 4" of water, and the other in 14" of water. These are in very shallow water and very safe. If winds exceed 15 mph, we will place you in a different type of blind for safety precautions.

What To Expect:

Hunting from a curtain blind isn't for everyone. The inside dimensions around 45" x 45", so if you're not a fan of tight spaces, it may not be for you. We describe these blinds as a "working blind"- meaning that you will need to adjust it as the water levels change with tide rise and fall. We are happy to answer any questions you have, and we will show you everything you need to know before the hunt.  You will need waders and a waterproof jacket to hunt in this type of blind. On occasion water will splash up from the grid around the blind that acts as a wave-breaker.
